Has anyone any experience with Merlin Cables - there high end cables - Scorpion and Dragon. I am interested in buying the Dragon speaker cable but there is no information anywhere about the cables anywhere. The company say its due to their price point which is much lower than most competitors and people feel as though they have to be loyal to a few certain brands, for obvious money reasons.

Anyway before getting into 'hifi politics' 🙂 - just wondering if anyone has any experience of the cables.

They offer a money back guarantee which is great for me I guess.

Merlin Dragon 7m Pair is in the region of 700 and the same set for Chord Signature is more than double. Specs for both look impressive and I cannot see why the Signature would be double the cost. Sonically I have heard after ringing many companies and reps today that the Dragon is on par if not better than the Signature. Obviously with only listing to independent reps and the two various companies I would like anyone elses opinion.

Thx

Although I can't be specific about the cables you have listed, I use Merlin (see below) and am very happy with the product and service from Merlin......The sale or return option on cables costing that much has to be a good deal. Give them a go....nothing to loose except maybe a bit of postage.

Not tried the Scorpian or Dragon but have used a lot of merlin cables - i have their interconnects, mains leads and mains blocks in my system - i was running the C12 speaker cable in my main system until recently.

They seem to make great products and very good values - used to deal with a guy called John Harrison - very honest - great knowledge and great customer service if he is still there - give him a call if any queries and you always have the 30 day money back guarantee to fall back on.

John was the person I had a very lengthy and helpful phone conversation with. I think I shall try the products - its always hard to compare against the Chord Signature as its not something I have you see.

I am looking at possibly getting the Merlin Bach or Chopin with XLR balanced terminations. Would that be a good/wise choice (and good value for money) against say the Chord or QED ones in the same price range?

plastic penguin:The Chopin's are superb. If your system requires a bit more transparency and openness, the Chopin's are ideal - although I'm not qualified to give a sound opinion on their upmarket cables.

Nore me, although I did have a Chopin once and personally found it lifeless to be honest.....
