I'm just getting straight again and need to re-invest in some better cables. Fortunately I kept the Rumour 2 speaker cable but I need to look at interconnects and, quite possibly, mains cables.

Does anyone have any experience with Merlin cables? I'm tempted to go back to Chord Chameleon Silver + but I'm also interested in the Merlin Bach and Merlin Chopin interconnects and would be grateful for any insight into their characteristics.

I'm also interested in any thoughts/experience with Merlin and/or Chord mains cables, and also with the Tacima mains block.

Overall I'm going for a refined sound with a slight hint of warmth to it. The Mezzo 2s are absolutely staying because I love the refinement and neutrality they offer and I'm very close to making a final decision on the amplifier. It definitely WON'T be another Cambridge, NAD, or Marantz.

The set-up I settle on now will remain stable until I can afford to start looking at Sugden gear (which I've heard quite recently and been absolutely blown away by).

Oh, and it might help to inform any comments if I make it clear that I absolutely HATE QED cables.

Yes, the Chameleon is a very bassy cable as you know, but with detail.

I also have experience of the Merlin Tarantula and Black Widow. The Tarantula has gone now, the BW is on my tuner. If you want a good mains cable, then the Nordost Shiva walks all over the Merlins, second hand I paid £72 and it was probablt the best pound for pound upgrade I've done at that price.

MP..I'm currently using Chopin Classic interconnects on my system. Ok a slightly older version but the characteristics you describe ( refined sound with a slight hint of warmth to it) are pretty much as they sound. They are certainly not bright. I am looking to upgrade as I think they are outclassed by the rest of my system but they are fine cables none the less. Looking at other Merlin options as well as a few others but Merlin are definately on my list.

No experience of their mains cables.

Great to deal with and good servive. Deal direct and you will see on their website hat they offer discounts off list.
