has anybody got experience with the mentor 6 of Dali?

I bought them recently and although I appreciated the clear sound initially it seems to overstate detail of some CD's (rock). Jazz sounds realy alive with these speakers. I assume it is in part due to the positioning of the speakers. May be the running in period? I use a Roksan MK III integrated amp.

Does anyone has advice on the positioning of the speakers with regard to the brightness?

Decent speakers will take a while to run in, probably around 50-100 hours for some models, so stick with them, they will get better.

Classification of 'bright' by most people is usually incorrect. Brightness means a lively top end, harshness is something different completely. Which are you experiencing?

The Mentors may me on the brighter side, but the ribbon tweeter should keep it quite sweet. They're not harsh though.

Thanks for your response David. I thought the running-in time had mainly an effect on the lower frequencies, but I might be wrong. The harshness I experience may be due to the CD player I use: a cheap old SONY (CDP-309). Today I used another (probably also not too good) Philips DVD player to play some CD's and the harshness disappeared. Do you have an advice for a good CD-player which does not sound too harsh?
