Meitner IDAT D/A processor

I thought it might be of some intrest to some.

I just come across a review of above mentioned DAC on Stereophile. the review dated back to 1993. can't tell for sure when the device was designed but it looks like it's at least 19 years old.

why I even decided to mention such an old device? well, just take a look at the measurements:

it can easily compete with modern machines and in many aspects easily outperforms them (sic!). and it's defo only a 16bit machine...

well, so much for technological development. :)

proper engineering is still what counts most.

P.S. but this thing sure looks ugly.

Maybe it performs very well indeed, but it wasn't cheap!

Arguably the "progress" has been in getting audio out of a computer/network and in better performance at a lower price point.

Enjoying my 16 bit DAC from the 1990's 8)

Then, $15,000 got you that performance.

Now, $99 gets you similar.
