Marantz pm6005 amp

I have a Marantz PM6005 amp along with an old Pioneer DV668AV universal player. My Marantz amp isn't meant to be able to manage DTS. However, when i play some dts cds i have they play. I just get static through the optical connection but they play when i switch to cd analog connection.

The Pioneer universal player is converting the DTS to a normal stereo signal when you output it to the amp using analogue connections, so the Marantz really isn't handling DTS - the Pioneer is. When you use the digital connection, then you are asking the Marantz's internal DAC to handle the DTS, which it can't do hence the static noise.
