Hi

I currently own the marantz PM6003 amp which I partner with MA BX2 speakers.

Would it be worthwhile to upgrade to the PM6004 amp if I am not going to change speakers. Is the PM6004 really an upgrade to the PM6003, has anyone did this path and is able to share the outcome.

Thanks

I too own the 6003 combo with MA BX 2 speakers.

But I have to say after swapping the BX2 with my dad's old Mission speakers (7 years old to be precise) and I've noticed my Marantz has become quite a different animal.

The sound coming out from my Mission is so much more alive compare with the BX2. The bass is a lot more dynamic and puchier and overall, a much better performer than the BX2.

Don't get me wrong, I am not suggesting the BX2 are inferior to the Mission but may be my good old Mission have better synergy with my Marantz.

So, imo if you want a significant improvement, my best bet is to change the speakers.

Replacing your 6003 with the new 6004 can be a costly exercise (unless you can sell your old kits for good money) and the improvement may not be as big as you think.

I dont see why the old missions cant overall sound better then bx2, I guess pm6004 has just slightly improved stereowidth/seperations, details and dynamics and a little better look with a full botton remote, if it worth the change I cant tell, compare them to figure it out.

Hi there,

Does anyone know the brand/model of the speakers stands on the 1st picture?

(it seems you can't send a private message)

I agree no point in changing amp. My suggestion is if changing make soem big steps otherwise just wasting your money. Speakers often make the biggest difference to the sound. Buy the best system you can afford and then keep it for years.

NO! No no and again, NO!

I went from the 6003 to the 6005 and was bitterly disappointed that they had somehow managed to make a lovely, peppy sounding amp sound dull and lazy.

That 'upgrade' has cost me dearly to put right.

Again, NO!
