Marantz hdcd1 vs Marantz cd6006

Hi there looking at buying nes CD player to go with my monitor audio airstream a100 amp. Was wondering what was the difference between Marantz hdcd1 and the Marantz cd 6006. Any help would be great. Thanks

In real terms probably very little difference, slightly different specs but the smaller hdcd looks a nice match for the MA astetically.

Just to say if you are not using the optical digital on the monitor audio you could in theory buy any inexpensive cd player that has an optical output and plug into the amp. This way you only use the player as a transport and the rather excellent monitor audio DAC as the music decoder. A cheap dvd player or bluray with optical out could do the same thing, though cd players are generally more user friendly

Thanks I'm also using an old pair of kef iq1s with it. Do you think they could do with an upgrade

I don't know them ones. I wouldn't ask here if something needs an upgrade, you get poor very fast. If you think yourself something is lacking then explain what and you may get better advice.

For speakers you'd need to say size if room, type of speaker etc.

That amp is very capable of driving a lot of speakers well
