Marantz Blu ray disapointment

I recently purchased a Marantz BD7004 Blu Ray player and am disapointed with the quality audio. I much prefer the audio on my Pioneer DVD player 989avi. The Pioneer sounds slightly bright which i like, and the Marantz to my ears sounds dull and lifeless.

Is it possible to take out the internal audio DAC from my pioneer and stick it in the Marantz?

Also do any brands make external surround sound DACs?

Do you mean physically remove the DAC section from the Pioneer and fit it into the Marantz?

If you have a HD receiver, you can bitstream the audio so the receiver does the processing. I have been looking into gettin either the Marantz BD7004 or Pioneer BDLX52. How is the picture quality of the Marantz?

I assume you're using the Marantz to decode and sending it via analogue interconnects. If so, you could get the opamps upgraded in the Marantz. I've found them to have quite a dramatic influence on the sound and I've been told moreso than the actual DAC itself. LM4562 opamps give a clean and articulate sound, speak to Brent at AudioUpgrades for advice.

They are good op amps as I replaced mine on my X-FI card that i use on my PC, wish I had the nerve to replace the op amps in my onkyo.
