The BBC has confirmed that Manchester and Liverpool will be the first cities in the UK to get Freeview HD when the roll-out of the service begins on December 2nd. Full story here.

I can't see this being very popular, i pressume you will need an external freeview HD tuner even if you have standered freeview.

Any news on external freeview HD boxes, if/when they will be released.

We're expecting the first Freeview HD boxes to be available in time for December. Will be interesting to see how many TV manufacturers produce sets with built-in Freeview HD tuners before then.
