mains cable

Re - Tacima, you will find if the sub is driven hard that it will loose some bass definition as the current flow is reduced by the Tacima. But try it see what you think.

However they are great for using on TV, CD player, PS3, DVD recorders and other low power units.

Using a mains cable does make the Sub more musical giving better definition, have a look in the review section for ideas.

PS, I use Russ Andrews Classic Powerkords which I can recommend.

How are you anyway Trev? Back in January i got a RAs (DCT) Classic powerkord in the sale and now i believe the cable to be fully burnt-in the improvements are amazing Trev, the DCT treatment does make alot of difference, i use it on my bluray player and the PQ is even sharper & clearer where i never thought possible with my PQ being so good before i used it.

Highly Recommended.

Indeed, I find removal of the mains cable from my equipment makes it a lot less musical. In fact removing the mains cables is a very effective way of removing all electrically generated sound from my listening environment. Switching off my mains supply at the fuse box is even more effective, ensuring that there is no background hum from the fridge or central heating. To be really sure of removing all noise from the system, however, requires action at the electricity sub station level - possible, but likely to get you into trouble.

Before spending any money on power cables ask why even top end, top of the range, equipment is sold with remarkably normal mains cables. Surely if all this made any difference then, say, Sony or NAD would supply something very different as standard as it would give an advantage when the kit was auditioned in a shop?

poptop:hi i am looking for a good quality mains cable to use with a velodyne subwoofer can anyone one advise thanks.Hi Poptop,

Well i would certainly recommend you use a better quality cable although for a sub i wouldnt go to expensive, i currently use a QED Qonduit mains cable on my subs they retail at 40 quid but you can pick em up for as little as 25 ish (if you shop around)
I found they improved the bass tightness and sounding more solid than compared to the cable that came with them, ive also tried a more expensive cable on the subs out of curiosity and i didnt find any further improvements to justify the outlay.
But like with cables etc its best you try and see if a better cable works for your ears poptop.

Hi poptop

I will also suggest that you continue to use the mains cable supplied with your sub.

Thanks

Very helpful posts by some.

Hi Jase, hope you are well.
Agree with you with regards to Russ, he is a hands on kind of guy. If he can't hear a difference he doesn't sell it!

b33k34, sorry you don't know what you are talking about. Sub stations, Sony and all. Nevermind
