I was looking at alot of TVs today. All the Sony Bravia's I looked at had captive cables. Is this true of all Sony TVs? I wanted to upgrade the mains cable. Alot of the others had IEC cables with right handed connectors. So was disappointed about the Sony's.

Wow! That's a new issue to get disappointed about!

JohnDuncan:And there was us just having this conversation with Eric today... I have a 503 and it's captive. I think removable starts at the 703 (though wouldn't swear on it).

The 703's is removable, but its side-facing position and proximity to the back of the panel means it won't take an upgraded mains cable with an IEC adapter. So if you wanted to upgrade the mains cable it'd have to be a Figure 8 model.

Not at all. I had the same issue when I bought mine (Technically not the exact same. I wanted a bigger IEC to fit my mains cable)

If you saying not to chase the power cable into the wall then what do you suggest doing? The only alternative is to have a flush mounted socket fitted behind the TV.

MUSICRAFT:

Hi DistortedVision

Which ever tv you end up with please just use the standard mains cable supplied with the set or use a standard (preferably) moulded mains cable. I wouldn't chase power cables in walls.

All the best
