Macbook into Amp

I need an optical lead to plug my Macbook into my av amp so i can take advantage of my amps dac. All the optical leads i've seen have a square connection at both ends and yet my optical out on the macbook has a 3.5mm connecton!

What to do????

Use one of these 3.5mm/mini-toslink to toslink adapters with a standard optical/toslink cable, or buy a mini-toslink to toslink cable like this for example

So I could do the same with my pc and iTunes via 3.5mm and optical into my Yamaha as well??

This would then utilise the Yamaha DAC??

Only if your PCs headphone out doubles as an digital output like on Macs...

Or get an Apple TV (which has a standard Optical port) - and reap all the associated benefits. That's what I've done...

Aah,..................so there may be a flaw in the plan!!!!

I have an HP Pavilion dm4, would you know off hand, or is it an interweb search??
