Hi Folks

I thought i would sign up as help and suggestions are always good as per title, just moved house and now have a 30 by 20 foot space and this is going to be my new home cinema room just looking for suggestions on an AV amp and Surround speakers have a budget of about £5000.00 maximum. I have already got a ps3, xbox 360 and Sky HD but would like a better bluray player for movies. I am in Kilmacolm near Glasgow if anybody has had any good Hifi Stores they could recommend to visit.

Thanks.

This is the business that we specialise in. With that size of room and your budget you will get a really good set up. Is the room currently a garage ready to be framed out or is it already a room?

Hi Onion Ring,

I have just collected my Roksan Caspian system from a store in Glasgow called Audio Merchants. They are exteremly helpfull and should be able to give you advice on what to buy. They took time and effort to assist myself as I had not bought a system for a very long time and have very good demo rooms for to let you listen to the system. I am also looking to put an extension onto my house with the idea of having a cinema area in there and Audio Merchants are going to advise me when my architect has finalised the drawings.

Hope this is of help to you.

I would highly recommend Nick, Chris & Dan at the Home Cinema Centre in Edinburgh. I have recently travelled 3 1/2 hours each way to Edinburgh on two occaisions to start building a HCS and they have been great. Good advice, products and prices from enthusiasts. One word of warning though - don't start speaking to Chris about PMC's

Hi

I have been around a few stores and have listened to the Yamaha DSPZ7 very impressed with this machine also listened to an Denon AVR3808 also great but the Yamaha had a in my option a more detailed sound very quick surround processing, and this is why i am going for the Yamaha still looking for speakers tried the B and W 600 range sound wise ok a bit bright sounding also tried the Epos Mi range more refinement in the sound will keep you posted.

If that was my £5k, it'd be a Yamaha DSPZ7 with a Miller & Kreisel 750THX system fed with a Pioneer 51 Bluray player. I wouldn't go mad on the BD player at the moment, maybe later when things settle down. You'd be surprised how good a system like this is, and with it being leagues ahead of systems half it's price, it would knock the socks off anyone listening to it. If people had that sort of spare cash and listened to this sort of system, they'd buy it on the spot.
