Hi Colin

The speaker system that you say with the pioneer sc-lx82 amp and the Sony 5000 blu ray player could be a winning combination.

Big Aura:

gel, do you work for Pioneer?

Do you really think that if I worked for pioneer I would slate some of their products for this year?

Is this purely for movies, or music too? Is there a size restriction on the speakers?

If you liked your LCR55 package, you could pick up the LCR750THX pack, comprising of 3x LCR750's, a pair of S55T's, and SB1250 for around £3k, a DSPZ7 for £1500 and LX52 at £500 still leaving change left for cables or stands.

If you want something smaller, you could look at using the M7's as LCR's and the M4T's, with KX12 sub for just over £1,700, saving about £1,300 on the 750 pack price.

We find many packages just can't deliver the detail and punch that's on offer from the M&K's, and in the majpority of A/B comparisons we do, the M&K is chosen because of this, and also because they're normally smaller than most hi-fi speaker packages.

In response to your question Big Aura, no I am just a junkie and have been for about 10 years now.

My first system was a pioneer all in one dvd system and ever since I was hooked.

Also my local av shop is very much into the high end pioneer stuff.

And I have got alot of my ideas from them eg my current system.

That's there main system in there main room. The best i have ever heard and especially for a pioneer amp.

The B&W do the XT series which my dad has got they sound very good with the yamaha amp you mention.

If you buy them together I am sure you will get a discount. That for me will sound alot better than the monitor audio package and cost double the amount then I would recommend my blu ray player the 71 for that system.

Colin

As you are going to Sevenoaks can I suggest you dem a Denon 2500BT they are doing these at a fantastic price just now £449.00 srp £899.00

Perhaps against a Pioneer LX71 ,just to please Gel

A Yamaha Z7 is definitely worth a demo as well but I am biased as that is what I use

What ever amp you you choose from Pioneer, Yamaha, Denon , Sony top end will be great although some work better with different speakers the Yamaha Z7 would be at the top of my list, along with some MA speakers, as for Blu-ray player Sony or Pioneer for me.

today i had the demo of the monitor audio rx6 5.1 setup

i was a bit dissapointed with them as the sounded a bit bright on the denon 3810 best amp they had in stock

also tried the b&w 684 center was htm62 but they didnt have the ds3 rears in stock they used the monitor audio silver fx rears

it sounded better than the monitor audios

but the dealer says he not going to get the ds3 in for me to listen to

it would of been nice with better amp and a dealer with a better stock

but havent got much choice in lincolnshire for hi fi dealers

but im still going to keep looking

thanks colin

The rears are very good with the pioneer amp, I am not too sure about the front one's and centre you have gone for know. Did they recommend that combination?

Thanks

I had to buy a new stand for my B&W centre speaker because it was too big.

Speaker cable you have to get something good for this set up.

Look at mine the QED silver anniversary XT, you don't really want to go lower with this set up.
