The Marantz slimline amplifiers are pretty good. There isn't a lot to choose from in terms of low profile units from other manufacturers. There are two slightly newer units from Marantz out, the NR1604 has a bit more juice which would help out the Ikons at the front.

Interesting, Pioneer used to do slimline but they pulled the plug a few years ago. Might be worth a shout but with the Ikons i'd still plump for the Marantz. Good shout though.

I am tempted myself. We moved house recently and we have in-wall 5.1, but it includes a passive sub. The prices wanted for a passive sub amp are crazy ( I could get a very nice active sub for the price). This Pioneer has support for a passive sub with its 6th channel.

Although I would lose the 2nd room support then, which I use (the in-walls are in the kitchen too, powered by the 2nd zone on my Yamaha RX V667).
