I'm looking for a whole new surround sound system / hi fi system and would appreciate any tips people have.

I'd prefer a one box system inc DVD player with small speakers which is good for surround sound, listening to music from either CD's or via an ipod and can be connected to a Wii (for surround sound golf!) and virgin cable. The small speakers will make this wife compliant! I have a Panasonic Viera TH42PX80B TV.

I've had a look at the Bose lifestyle 18 and 28 which seem to do all I require but are also fairly pricey and I've also seen the Sony DAV IS 10 which again seems to do all I require but the reviews I've seen don't really comment on its ability as a standard stereo hi fi, although at the price is it safe to assume the sound quality is much lower than the Bose?

Any tips much appreciated.

Thats good to hear, I actually managed to listen to the Bose and the Sony DAV IS 10 at the weekend and the Bose is certainly not worth the money.

However, the person demonstrating the Sony DAV IS 10 couldn't should me it's capability for listening to stereo music from a CD or an ipod as it seemed to be stuck in surround mode only. Has anyone managed to listen to it for music only?

Or more generally are the one box home cinema systems generally much good for listening to music?

cheers
