Hello there, This post to ask you some advice on a quiet specific research.(my english is not that good) I would like to replace my old NAD amp which is good for all the audio issues but a bit outdated for the rest.My use is multifunctional (movies, TV, video games, music) and as so, I'm not sure if I need a HiFi or Home-cinema device. Here is the kind of thing I'm looking for :- A must : I need a optical input because my Samsung TV sadly doesn't have any other audio output.- A good fit with my Monitor Audio BX2 speakers.- As said before, my use is multifunctional. Lots of movies (with a MacBook plugged through HDMI on my Samsung UN40B6000). Music with the same MacBook with basic audio jack/RCA cable (Metallica, Mozart, Bob Dylan, Chemical Brothers, etc.). TV channels through HDMI in the Samsung. PS3 through HDMI in the TV.- Airplay would be very welcome.- A remote, which is not always obvious- Budget : 300 euros / 330 dollars / 220 pounds I saw this thing : http://www.son-video.com/Rayons/Amplificateur-stereo-reseau/Yamaha-RN301.html
Or this : http://www.son-video.com/Rayons/Ampli-Home-Cinema/Yamaha-HTR4067.html Don't know if this informations will be enough. A big thanks in advance. Regards.

The Yamaha R-N301 is a nice box of tricks and would certainly make you able to connect everything you've already got.

* Samsung TV (with everything connected to it) -> optical to Yamaha.

* Airplay streaming from MacBook to Yamaha.

I would recommend the new model, the R-N602 if you also had a record player because that model has a phono stage. But I doubt that you need that.

You don't seem to need a lot of inputs, so the R-N301 will suit you.

A couple or years ago we looked at stereo receivers. Since we already had an Airport Express for Airplay and a DAC for the TV and the Airport Express we decided to get a stereo receiver without networking capabilities, a Yamaha R-S500. We really like the sound of Yamaha and I'm sure this one won't sound too different from ours. If you just need stereo, don't bother with home cinema.

Hi there,

Thank you for your answer.

But here is an idea. If in a few months or years I want to upgrade my installation for a 5.1 home-cinema thing, may I buy a home-cinema right now for my current use until I switch.

These two home cinema amps are just 40/50 euros more expensive than the HiFi R-N301 :

http://www.son-video.com/Rayons/Amplificateur-audio-video/Pioneer-VSX-S510.html

They seems to gather all the features I'm looking for. But are they ok for a musical / theatrical use on 2.0 device for now ?

Thanks again in advance for your answers.
