Hi there, please can anyone help with the following ? -

I'm looking for a new hifi amp but I'd like one with LOTS of inputs. I have a couple of CD players, a digital radio, a dvd player, a tv, an ipod, etc, and ideally I'd like an amp with enough inputs to handle all of these.

This is surely a common requirement, but I can't see any amps with more than 4 or 5 phono inputs. How do people normally solve this problem ?

All advice gratefully received. Thank you !

(I was even thinking about getting a mixer; but most hifi separates output via phono jacks, and most mixers take XLR or stereo jacks as inputs..)

Depending on budget, Harman Kardon HK990, or their earlier HK6550, 6850, etc, amps. For slightly less money Onkyo's TX8050 amp. Loaded with inputs.

What's your budget?

Something like a 2nd hand Cyrus 8XPd or 8DAC would fit the bill with ease as they've got up to 11 inputs (some digital as well so the CD/DVD players can use the optical ins etc...)

Restek Challenger can be had for around £300 S/H and has 8 Line inputs and one Tape Loop. Sounds good too, oodles of power and drive, did my Magnepan MMG's proud!! No remote option though if that matters.

i had an Arcam fmj a28 and i think it had 7 inputs..too many for my liking, but obviousley just the ticket for you..

Aforesaid Onkyo TX8050, four digital inputs, two coax and two optical, ethernet input for access to your network, seven RCA inputs, input for a subwoofer and one for a power amp. Fascia mounted USB input for other sources, e.g. iPod to run the data stream off but use the 8050's internal (and excellent) DAC. Comes with Spotify and various other pre-enabled internet options too. More than enough if that's your criteria, but sound quality is right up there. £400 but likely less, well worth checking out (see user reviews on the web).
