Looking to buy a stereo amp seperate, budget is around £300. My system is stuck in 2003 and I haven't kept my finger on the Hi Fi pulse since then, so looking to bring it up to date.
Since buying a 32" Sony Bravia, I've discovered it only has an optical out to deliver audio to the amp instead of the usual RCA outputs.
So, the amp needs to have optical in and look like a normal seperate, not like the weird Musical Fidelity banaba shaped thing I saw recenetly.
Will be also delivering music from my Samsung Galaxy S5 to the amp via Chromcast - I realise Bluetooth may be a better option for this, but is there any real difference in quality with what I'm planning to do? At the moment I'm mostly listening to DI.FM for music, and have tracks stored on my phone, downloaded from Google Play.
Did the iTunes thing years ago, like everyone else and then sold all my CDs which I now completely regret. I hardly use it now. It's all about the streaming isn't it.
