since adding an amp to my system theexisting SKy lip sync is now worse.

Although the amp (Sony strdh800 and SKY HD) both allow you to change the lip sync at 20 ms intervals, this makes it worse as I need to go the other way. However neither allows a negative change. Any ideas?

Im sorry but your making no sense

The amp plays whatever comes its way instantly

Sky can either do the same or create a delay. Therefore the ONLY way you can go is to create a delay on the amp, the other way (Which is impossible) wouldnt help at all even if it was possible

i guess your using hdmi for picture and optical for sound they can be slighlty out. I was lucky as on my amp i just pressed lip sync to on and that did the job. Try just playing the sound through the hdmi (it wont be dd 5.1) but see if that helps if so try a differant optical cable my mate had a faulty one but i cant see that being the problem. good luck with whatevers the problem

There are quite a few "lip-sync and sky" topics on this forum. I prob even started one. In my experience you can do a planner rebuild and that may cure it. It did for me (for a while), but kept re-occuring. Sky gave me a new box last week and to date it seems okay. Fingers crossed (although now the volume is very low on SD programmes!).

I had the same problem as the O/P with an American boxset of Band of Brothers, my Denon 2500BT flatley refused to play it yet my Toshiba HDEX-1 would play it but with the "reverse" lip synch issues mentioned by the O/P. The sound was so far behind it was unwatchable.

The amp, Denon 4308, again only seemed to correct the lip synch the "wrong" way and made it worse.

Sorry I have no answers for you, I ended up having to watch it in the bedroom on a panasonic dvd player bought over here in Saudi!

Hi, as a matter of interest what make is your Sky HD box? I have the Sony 2400 receiver and had the same issues on the Amstrad version of the HD box however when this was exchanged to a Pace HD box I had no further lip sync issues.
