And the author goes on to say ...

"I used the Sneaky DSM with a range of speakers, including my usual Neat Iotas and PMC GB1s, along with a pair of Focal Aria 926s I had passing through for review, and what was very clear was that, while the system may ‘only’ deliver 33W per channel, unless you want to fill very large space with music at extremely high levels, that output is more than sufficient to deliver music with all its excitement and dynamics intact.

Only when you push the Linn really hard does the sound begin to thicken up and take on a hard edge, but it does so in an entirely progressive fashion, so it’s clear when the limits are being approached. Those limits, by the way, are unlikely to hamper the enjoyment of all but the most crazed wall-shaker."

So, are you 'a crazed wall-shaker' SiUK? Do you really think anyone wanting ear-grinding volume levels in a large room would inadvertently / accidently choose the Sneaky?

It's not that chebby, it's just that not all recordings are equal. And I do find (quite often) that some music you have to welly up just to get it to sound 'right'. I'm just unsure whether 33w pc would be enough for all music. I've got a number of classical recordings that need the volume up quite high because they are 'quiet' recordings. For the most they sound okay, but there are a few others that don't. Maybe just the Marantz's limitations though.

I think I would have purchased a Linn Sneaky DSM had it not come out only a few weeks after having purchased my Naim Unity Lite. I think it is the dogs bolls!

How long have you had the UnitiLite?

The Linn Sneaky DSM was announced in WHF? back in April (and was on sale in April according to the announcement).

Strange how there is no mention of the black sheep of the Linn family .. the Sekrit DSM ... which can offer slightly higher power output and is even more suited to 'hiding away in a cupboard'

Basically it's a Kiko/Sneaky DSM in the old Sneaky DS case and that can output 2 x 50W in bridged mode or 4 x 33W.

I think it's around the same price as the Sneaky DSM.
