So it's not safe to buy a TV until these are released correct?

The hdr road map will take upto 2018/20 to complete according to TP vision so don't buy the top LED models like the js9500. 700 nit brightness TV is still not doable yet.I heard the Samsung 4k set can do under 600nit.The best for now.
1000 nit could be a defined standard in HDR? Not agreed by either BBC,Dolby,or Philips yet.
LEDs are brighter than Oled so it is at the forefront.
TP vision is pushing hdr with LEDs as more doable with research in this area so it is very positive.
This company's R and D work is extremely important to LED's future incl broadcast considerations in HDR.Without them it is one unco ordinated mess.

At the speed you chop and change it's pretty safe to buy now, as you probably will have bought and sold at least another half a dozen times before the standard is finally set ;-)

Samsungs 2015 tvs seem to be a lot dearer and less specc'ed than last years am i right in thinking 2016 would be a good time to buy a 4K tv, and samsung have ditched the pebble looking remote with something horrible.

Samsung must be losing a lot of money through selling TVs. I would imagine 2016 would be a good time, if I was going to buy one I would make sure the Blu-Ray players - the 4K ones work okay first and are reasonably priced and then a demo would be called for.

I wonder if that makes my 55HU8500 out of date allready ?
Good question, I would imagine it will be able to do some of the 4K, but in 2 years time you will be able to do a lot more. That's my understanding of it.
