Hi Guys, In your recent magazine review you state that the LG 47LW650T is on sale for £1,300 but I can only find it on sale for £1700 which seems to distort the review somewhat. I did want to check though if the review was of the 47LW550T meaning there is a printing error with the model name (which is on sale for £1,300) or did you just get the price wrong? If the price in your magazine is incorrect would you guys still take the LG over the Samsung Tv's? Thanks Sam

Hi Sam, and welcome to the Forums!

We definitely reviewed the LG 47LW650T, which was definitely £1300 as we tested it. But retailers have the right to change prices! (And i'm sure a Supertest win doesn't help charging well for the LG....) Sure it'll drop in price again as TVs usually do...

However, at the higher price it's a much closer contest between the LG and the Samsung D7000 - which is still a clear five-star TV.

I'd encourage you to investigate both sets, plus assess exactly what you're planning to use the TV for.

If you're planning to watch a lot of broadcast 3D - as a group - than the LG is undeniably the best-value option, as it comes with so many sets of glassses (and the passive 3D approach is typically easier on the eyes).

However, if you want to max your 2D experience, you may prefer the Samusng - especially if you can get a great deal on the set.

Hi Clare,

I have also noticed that the price for the LG 47LW650T has increased significantly since your test.

Having said that I note that LG have released a lower spec model (the 550T) which seems almost identical in all of its specification barring the motion processing which is only 100Hz rather than the 200Hz on the 650T. When I search around for prices for the 550T it seems it is much more widely stocked and therefore you can pick it up for much, much less (ie, £1100 as against £1800). Is the difference in the motion processing likely to materially impact the performance of the television? Have you tested the 550T or have you any advice on the 550T? With the price differentiation I am tempted to go for the 550T - but don't want to end up with a sub-standard set.

Thanks in advance

Graham

I would also have bought this set at £1300 but £1700 is a massive jump, I would of got it on the sky cash back deal, but I bet money thats why its no longer £1300. Hate cash back offers and 9/10 are just cons.

Oh well it was a nice thought to buy while it lasted. Where was it listed at £1300 or was it LG's RRP.

We've got a review of both '450 and '550 model LG sets in our next TV Supertest - this time of 40-42in sets. Issue gets posted out to subscribers this week; in shops next week.

That's great news Claire as I'm in the market for the very same thing, a bigger tele than my present 37" Pana...so will be keen to see what you come up with...I hope you have some realistically affordable models in there and not just the very top end of the market...?
