LG 42 SL8000 LCD TV - Decision Time.....

Hi all, my name is mat and i'm new to this forum, i fancy upgrading my Sony Bravia (of 5 years) to something new.... i don't want to spend a fortune, my budget is about £1000 and i really like the look of the LG 42 SL8000. I also like the look of the Philips 37 9604...... as well as all the LED's TV's that are available!! Choices Choices Choices!!!

My problem being that i haven't got any surround sound systems at the moment and want a TV that has good sound as well as picture quality.

I hope to eventually upgrade to surround but it isnt something that shouts at me to do right now. It's all about the Tele....

LED's have bad sound as the speakers are rear mounted. My real question is does anyone own a LG tv and what are they like...???

I have read a few reviews and all TV's seem to be almost on a level playing field, so i was just wondering what peps thought about the TVs.

Hi Mat. Welcome to the forum. Have you seen these side by side in a store? Not the best test with their lighting and settings usually too high but might give you some idea.

Depends what size you're really after too as you mentioned 2 sizes there.

Hi yeah seen both in store, not side by side. actually decided that the size i will go for is 37inch rather than 42.

still undecided..... not sure the philips all beit a better tv all round, not sure the amberlight and net tv is worth it an extra 300. plus the 37 SL8000 LG plays divxhd files via the usb and has bluetooth.

sort of talking myself into the LG but does anyone has experiences with the 'glass' screen, what is the reflection like? as in the store it was pretty bad, but i haven't got spot lights and high lighting at home......
