You don't hang around do you?

No sense in hurrying the creation of perfection.

The journey is half the fun in this malarchy.

I agree about the SA1s, PP, they have certain talents but they don't produce a lot of bass. Chebby was quite right too, they're not about bringing any sense of warmth to the mix either!

I was reading Crusaderlord's 2008 thread about speaker auditioning and it made me wonder whether you should try out the Neat Motive range. Also, I suspect Kudos (X2?) might work well for you too. No rush!

Chebby, when did you hear the SA1s? What did you think? I know you've been considering a pair of LS3/5 descendants for some time but I've always been curious as to whether you'd think them overpriced (I'm thinking SA1 and P3ESR here). Sorry if this is slightly off topic.

Yup, doesn't time fly when you're having fun....

My first amp and seperate tuner was 1979. Scary stuff.

It's easy to latch onto the negative issues (we all do it) - the Leema does so much of the music so well that you can forgive the slight imperfection. Bare in mind also (most won't agree with me), that the Pulse is twice the price of the MAs, and any flaws are going to be ruthlessly exposed. Every amp I've tested at home has been decidedly below the grand mark.

I'm sure when it comes to finding a match I like, after Christmas, it's pretty doable. If I trade in my Pulse now, I will never know what it's capable of....that would be a crying shame. So I'll concentrate of the good aspects and not dwell on the negatives. Does the perfect sounding system exist? if so, I've never heard it...

Cheers, iggle. I'll certainly see how the Neats stack up. I remember a poster a while ago (don't think he's a regular) said that when comparing the ProAcs and PMC TB2i that the latter was slightly recessed with vocals.

Also, shortly after auditioning the Leema and Caspian I mentioned that the Leema would need careful system matching.

I am really pleased you are happy with the Leema - after all it isnt really a fair challenge to see the Arcam A65+ up against it given the price differential.

I agree that the journey is easily as much fan as the listening pleasure - my own experience has shown how much you can improve via the cables, stands and mains infrastructure so dont underestimate them.

I was amazed to find my core system was now over 2 years old and i dont have any plans to change it. The SA1 would certainly give you more mid-range but as in my 2008 post there is a trade off for this elsewhere but they are excellent speakers and could do the job. I would definately try Neats though as well as for me they are still my favourites and are great at bringing out the best in your amp.

Thanks, crusaderlord. It's so easy to keep picking out the negatives (not you), yet if you read my orginal post the positives far outweigh the negs. I'm most people, I'm aiming as close as one can get to a 'perfect' system.

All-in-all Leema Pulse is cracking amplifier, even if I had paid the "Full Monty". Perhaps I'm just too honest....
