Hi all i am in the market for a 46/47 inch tv i have a budget of £850 and main requirments are it looks good and has freeview hd built in. In my budget i can get a 50 mz led or a 100hz lcd but am at a loss to decide as i like the sharpnes of led but as i have a ps3 am concerned about it only being 50 hz and i play alot of games and will only be buying blue rays and have read alot of things about picture jumping.Would really like your oppion as all sales staff i have asked dont seem to know what they are on about. Thanks in advance.

Let's be clear. LED TVs are LCD TVs!

The LED variant uses less power and are usually slimmer, but there is no guarantee that you get a better picture. What you can be almost sure of though is that the price will be higher.

Similarly, there are excellent 50 Hz TVs and rubbish 100 Hz TVs. Don't get hung up by specifications. They rarely say anything about the true performance of a TV.

For your budget I would get a Sony 46EX503 if it has to LCD.
Personally I would rather get a Panasonic P46S20 plasma.

Also LG makes some excellent budget plasma screens, but I am not so familiar with these sets and don't know if you can get it in the desired size.

LED refers to the backlight not the panel! The time I have said this to guys in comet and other terrible shops they don't believe you though. OLED is true LED tech and is some way off in those sizes anyway!
