I am the owner of a Sony KDL32 V2000 which i run Sky HD through HDMI and a dvd player through the component connection. At some stage i would like to get a blu ray player and link it in via a hdmi splitter as i only have one hdmi connector. My questions are how much better than my current TV is the new KDL-32W4000? Will i notice a big difference in picture quality if i now replace my V2000? Also, i have a relatively cheap upscaling dvd player. Will there be a significant increase in picture quality if i put it through a hdmi splitter instead of component?

Hi Shep, as luck would have it, one of my friends had the 32V2000 (he's just upgraded to the 40W4000) and he's just been round to mine to view my new 32W4000. His own thoughts were that the 32W4000 had significantly better blacks (I was playing the imax demo of The Dark Knight that comes with the blu-ray version of Batman Begins. He also felt that the screen was noticeably brighter. In saying that, I'd suggest you get your blu-ray player first and see how you get on with the picture on the 32V2000. You can always pop into any sony centre shop and ask to see the 32W4000 with a blu-ray playing to see if you can notice any difference. At 32" i think it's harder to notice so many difference, so personally I'd wouldn't upgrade your TV but as they say, the choice is yours. As for your other questions, I would have thought the splitter would have been the best choice but that's just a guess, I'm sure someone can confirm.

Well done on promotion btw, my dear blues went the other way but hopefully we'll bounce back this season, keep right on :)

I could always use a splitter with the blu ray player as well. This could well be the way to go, does anybody know of a good and cheap splitter? Was hoping to sell my tv to the father in law but will hold off for now. Shame about the Blues, would be good if most of the West Midlands clubs were in the top division. At least we let you have Phillips. Hope he doesn't get crocked!! Will be supporting you twice next season!!( Home and away against Wolves!!)
