LCD colour probs!!!

Hi can anyone shed any light on a mates tv problem? Samsung 40" LCD which on start up shows red, blue,green thin stripes on left of screen!! Once warm it goes away!! Any ideas?? Thanks

Id be looking at getting it exchanged if its still under warranty as thats clearly not normal

Mate has had it for nearly three years but seems strange the stripes are on same side as the connected cable. They around 2mm wide and run from top to bottom and 2mm apart! I have advised to try a different connection so waiting to see outcome!!
