LCD Calibration

I am planning on buying a Sony KDL-52W4500 LCD tv. The store offers and recommended to buy a Spyder TV calibration device. They said it makes the picture 20% better and is important for Computers and TVs.

What is your practical experience with this? Does it make sense to calibrate the TV and computer monitors and is it worth the cost for the device? Which one would you recommend?

I just used the THX optimizer on Star Wars... And then turned the backlight down to 2.

Agree with Big Aura ; the THX is sufficient and a lot easier to use than the DVE disc . Wouldn't waste the money on a Spyder device.

The Spyder is a clever device, but unless you can borrow one it's a tad pricey for everyday use.
