Hey guys,

I tried to "intergrate" my new Denon DM39 with my laptop (X220) with a 3.5mm headphone jack (which is the only audio output source on my laptop) to analog input cable.

I am wondering if I should buy an external sound card with optical output, so that I can connect my laptop and DM39 with an optical digital cable?

Do you think it would actually sound better? I play FLAC and APE most of the time on my laptop BTW...

Hi and thanks, Steve!

That would be much cheaper than I expected!*smile*

Another question if anyone could put me out off mistery.. *dash1*

In the case of using a USB DAC or external sound card and trasmit the digital signal, is the signal only processed by DM39? Just being curious~~~

Whenever you're sending audio to the DM39 by using an optical cable plugged into it you'll be using the DAC in the DM39 to do the digital to analogue convertion.

If you used the Behringer DAC you would connect it to the DM39 via an RCA cable and the digital to analogue conversion would be done by the Behringer.

Hope this helps. :)
