Kuro is the best upscaler!!!

I was letting my Kuro upscale DVDs when played from my Panasonic BD60 with excellent results, but I never bothered to check what was upscaling my Sky.

I set my Sky box video output to "Auto", & turned off the video upscaling of my Yamaha receiver, to allow my KRP 500A do the upscaling. The result is an astonishing improvement!!!

Many underestimate the upscaling abilities of their TVs. Just give it a try & see what upscales your pictures better. You may be in for a pleasant surprise.....

slightly off subject , but what do people think is the best amp for upscaling sd ?? and given the kuros brilliance at upscaling , are the pioneer amps better than others ??

You have not mentioned what is your budget but Onkyo 875 older model have HQ Reon video chip and supposed to be the best upscaling receiver.

The higher-end Onkyos (875/6 and 905/6) are certainly great at upscaling, but the Yamahas ('3900 and DSP-Z7) as well as the similarly priced Sonys and Pioneers are also notable.

im not in the market for an amp , just curious, i am going to get a yamaha soundbar though , either the 40d or its brand new replacement , i wonder if either of those would upscale better than my humax foxsat box ??

What's surprising is that the picture improvement is very marked, even my other half (who isn't really bothered about picture quality) could note the difference!

What other TVs are excellent upscalers?

The 'Z' Sonys are pretty sharp, but nothing's yet matched Kuro standard.
