Hi all,
The Kef R100 was released somtime in 2012, and the Q350 in 2018

My dealer has both for sale at around the same price, the R series are supposed to be better, but does the time difference between when the two models were released change this?

There's a good chance it will.... I used to own a pair of Q700, and also had the chance to listen to a pair of R500. For space and aesthetic reasons, i moved to standmount, and the R3 was the best speaker I listened to under £2k.... I know it is subjective, but there you have my opinion.

For me, I think that when KEF make a new model it is exactly that - new. Therefore, I think there is a good chance the Q350 may sound "better" than the old R100. In my experience, it will certainly have a fuller bass sound.

If there is any chance at all that you can save more pennies and wait a while to buy the R3, I would 100% recommend them. They are ridiculously good, and honestly, for what they are - cheap.

I'd go for the R100's to be honest. R Series is generally a step up from the Q series, bear in mind both R100's and Q350's were current ranges for KEF in 2017 and 2018 before the new R series got released.

I don't see how the Q350 can be better that the R100's but again it will depend on the rest of your kit as to whether you will get the full benefit.

The R3's as advised above are a a totally different speaker. They are much bigger and generally it's not a bookshelf speaker but rather a standmount. The R100's are £329 online, doubt you can find a better value for money speaker, R3's are £1300 so you can't really compare the two
