Does any one own, or has heard these speakers, I'm really stuck, on what to replace my Definitive Technology Pro 80's with.

Currently i do not have room for floor or normal stand mount speakers.

As well as KEF's 5005.2's, you could either look at Monitor Audio's Radius range, or even their upcoming Apex range which is due out the latter half of April. They're as good as small speakers get without moving to the likes of MK, for which you would need to upgrade your amplifier.

David, I do not mind upgrading the amp, if the overall sound quality can be improved.

I am not out for high volume output, I run the 1909 with the dynamic eq off, and sound level about -42.

David, I would also prefer not to have rear ported speakers, if that is possible. The Def Tech's are sealed aluminium units.

You could do a lot worse than look at the Dali Fazon range of products. With the new sub 1 the 5.1 comes in at a touch more than the 5005 but you will get loads of detail and a huge sound.

Improving on the Denon would give you real gains from either the Kefs or the Dali's

Nick, thanks for the reply, wasn't too sure about the Fazon, would they be an improvement on my Def Tech's.

I did think about the Motif though.

The Fazons are a good bit better than the 5005's IMO, it has been a long time since I heard DefTechs so couldnt say for sure. The Fazon LCR ( formerly Motif) is a step up from the Fazon but you may get bigger gains adding a more powerful sub with the standard Fazons.

Depending on your budget upgrading the Denon and pairing with Fazon's will give you a better end result than keeping the Denon and running the Fazon LCR's.

Any suggestion which way to go with the amp.

No the Fazon is the smaller ( one drive unit ) speaker. The Motif is in the process of being renamed Fazon LCR ( two drive units ) but both are current. If you search Motif in our search bar the two different products will show up. Searching for Fazon will bring up the single unit.

If you have any trouble email me and I can send you the details rather than link in the thread.

Nick
