does this system have an optical input? stupid me asking all the time but the two connections(L+R) red and white connections dont work properly on the new samsung tvs.

Err,no,it has no optical input's,it's not a system but a speaker package so requires pairing with a suitable receiver/amp

Quite, the speakers need separate amplification - you can't drive them off the Samsung TV.

Not just this one. Most speaker packages require external amplification.
