Kef; how far from the wall?

I like the Kef R300 and R500. Music symfonic metal and pop. But in my room i can place the speakers 4o cm from the walls. Isn't the R300 then the better choice? Kef says the R500 must at 1 metre from the walls.
 
Yes that is true, what are your walls made off? Are they solid, brick, breeze block, concrete, plaster board, wood, or cardboard?
 
Floors make a big difference too, I am lucky and have a solid brick floor which makes for wonderfully tight base.
 
Yes; i thought also. I have had the MA Rx6. Overblown bass in my room. For the R300 i need a pair of speakerstands. Which will be fine?
 
I would look at the Atacama Duo 6 which are about £60, check the height you want the tweeters about the same height as your ears.
