LOL. Yes, I also usually keep their "clothes" on but it's more to prevent the dust from getting in rather than for asthetic reasons. Still prefer them "naked" without the grills and I think maybe that is why they are always photographed without them.

Yes, agree that normal speakers are not at all attractive to look at. After all, it's nothing more than a box. Especially when the grills are on, you can't really tell them apart without looking carefully.

I think for something to look attractive, it has to have some "curves". ;-) Just my opinion.

But I don't know about you, I keep the grills on precisely to help them blend into the room and disappear. The drivers are photographed because I guess that IS the product so it wouldn't be terribly descriptive if they only showed the grills, but in a home, grills on all the way for me!

Personally I think speakers look beautiful - I gaze adoringly at my 685s on occasions. But then I'm odd.

Indeed. Give me some sexy drivers to look at, rather than a blank expanse of black material. (ATC aside, they look like they need a good wipe with white spirit)

I just wish I could take the grilles off my M1s, that'd go double if they had yellow kevlar cones.

My grilles go on my 602s when anyone visits with kids. Other than that, I use 'em 'naked'.

Just to let you know what happened. I bought some QED silver anniversary cable (50m, cost me a fortune!) and installed it in the lounge. I then moved my KEF 3005SE/Onkyo 606 in from the other room (as someone suggested) and they sounded fine. I then used my Tannoy 6o5 HiFi speakers as front speakers and the KEFs to make a 7 speaker system...and it was very good! Old KEFs and Onkyo back to old room while i waited for new kit to arrive.

So I managed to get a deal on KEF3005SE and the Onkyo 876 (£1,500 all in) for the lounge and finally last night laid it all out, pluged it all in and it is brillant- full 7.1 speaker system! I was worried about the subwoofer in a room this size but no problem.

I would have liked the Dali Ikons, but in truth I could not tell the differene between my old Tannoys and the Dali fronts when using HiFi, so why waste money (as my wife would say). I can always get replace my Tannoys later (as I would say).

Next thing to try tonight is to play round with my CD player and HiFi amp. I think I understand the instructions from earlier postings, but I suspect I could be back for more help. Its how I connect the 2 amps togther that puzzles me, what output from the Onkyo do i take and where do I plug it in my hifi amp? I understand about plugging the 2 front speakers (and CD player etc) into the HiFi amp and rest of the speakers into the Onkyo.
