KAM BDX900 USB TURNTABLE

HI ALL

Having totally changed my mind about trying to fit a new arm to a Gemini deck and kicking it into touch, I'm thinking about a KAM belt drive turntable with USB due to the fact it has 33/45/78 as standard as well as pitch control which is what I require since been given a whole pile of 78's.

Are these KAM decks good value for money, or are they total rubbish?

I welcome all opinions on this!

dont know the kam decks but the old lencos are good for 78 plus their a genuine hifi turntable thats assuming you can find a good one

if your going to play 78s then buy a specialist cartridge too 78s are well worth it

Yes I am familiar with the old Lenco TT's and they can be picked up quite reasonably, but I want to know if anyone has one of these KAM decks and what they think of them as I'm just trying to get as much info as possible before making a firm decision.

Haven't heard one, but looking it at, it seems to have a proper arm with removable headshell, rather than the horrible plastic ones of the Ion etc.

Probably the one of the better TTs of the USB bunch, excepting the Project Debut III USB. However that one is over twice the price (and doesn't do 78rpm out of the box - the Project needs a optional pulley kit).

I would be surprised if it could hold it's own against a 2nd hand Rega Planar 2 or Project Debut, but then they don't have USB or 78rpm. And it is only a ton or so.

Thank you for the reply! I NEED 78rpm due to the stack of records I was given back in July. While I agree the Rega or Project don't have 78 the KAM does have that as part of the deal. Other features are the changeable headshell as I have good quality carts waiting (AT95E for 33/45 & Shure M78 for 78). Problem is I'm on a budget!

I'd really like to know what the audio quality is like on the KAM deck before I splash the cash. Surely someone out there can tell me?
