I have been thinking about this for the last couple of weeks and was hoping someone could shed some light for me.

In reviews of BD players they speak about the impressiveness or the short comings of the player when playing a BD, what I want to know would the same impressiveness or short comings be evident when playing HD media through a usb device, memory stick or streaming through the network? also would there be any difference by plugging it in straight to the telly?

I am just intrigued and wonder why that is never taken into account when making reviews.

I understand there are differences in the way that BD player is made and that some just don't produce the picture quality as well as others is that the same engine for the a solid state medium?

Cheers in advance

Sorry, just slightly confused by your question.

All our reviews are comparative - eg same Blu-ray in different players. So saying a player plays a disc well/poorly is in comparison to how the best-in-class player does the same.

We also test the streaming abilities of any player - again, comparatively.

Not sure how plugging a USB directly into a TV has anything to do with testing BD players
