anyone know what the normal volume level for listening would be?

I am using my Cyrus system via Pre's for the front speakers and am inclined not to push the receiver too hard yet.

Cheers.

3d Gadge,

What is 'abnormal' to you, I suspect would be 'normal' to me - whatever you're comfortable with, really.

As long as your equipment have been set-up properly, there is little risk of damage, whatever the level.

I'm sure the 2020 is an excellent amp. It is an LX-53 essentially.

There just seems to be a lot of dead DB

For example the volume starts at +80 (not 11 🙂

and I listen normally to some Sky programmes at +22 but feel it needs more volume but don't want to push it!

Thanks.

+10 dB equates to a doubling in volume, which at the lower volume is nothing really, that's why you quiet quickly go from no volume at an AVRs low volume level to the higher volumes. Once you get to the top 2/3 rds of the AVRs volume, +10 dB or doubling the volume then makes quiet a difference.

I.e. If you double the volume of a whisper it still will not be very loud, but if you double the volume of a shout you will know about it.

Hope this is clear
