I should ask this question on the JRiver forum really, but you need a degree in Streaming Studies to understand anything they say.

Anyway, I have a system which is working really well - music stored locally on a PC running JRiver Media Centre, which is a great system. So the music can be played on the PC, which I often do. I also then use JRemote on an iPad and play music on a couple of Marantz M-CRs connected either wirelessly or over ethernet. But this means I have to have the PC on all the time, so I am thinking of getting a NAS. (I suspect it would take a very long time for my electricity bill to actually be cheaper enough that I get the money back. So why bother? I'm not sure.)

Anyone know if JRemote can then access the music stored on the NAS to play on the Marantz systems without the PC acting as the server? I don't think it will be able to.

Doubt it, as J Remote is surely designed to work with J River. But Marantz has its own remote app for iPad able to drive the M-CR systems, which will access music on the NAS directly provided it's being shared by a suitable server package such as Twonky on the NAS.

It does, yes, but the last time I used it is was not so flexible, which is why I went the JRiver route. It was a while ago, though. Maybe I will look again.
