Hi,

Total newby to Home Cinema so excuse if these are not the most scintillating questions.....

I have recently purchased a Sony KDL-40W4500 together with a Sony BDP-S350 Blue Ray player. I read great reviews on both before taking the plunge recently!

Now I want to add surround sound. Once again on scanning reviews etc I have just bought the Sony STR-DG820 Amp. I have not deliberately bought all Sony it just sort of happened! The reasoning behind the TV was get the best in its size without going into Pioneer territory! The reasoning behind the Blue-Ray and Amp was good quality on a budget. It is with this mind set that I am seriously thinking of getting the Jamo A102hcs5 Speaker set.

Questions

The system is in a room of about 12ft x 22ft long with the TV roughly in the middle. Will these speakers combined with the AMP be sufficient to give great Surround sound?

In What Hi-Fi it states these speakers should ideally be teamed with a "smooth-sounding" amp from Denon or Yamaha. Would this Sony be a good match for them?

Could I add an additional 2 speakers in the future to make the system 7.1?

Will I get the benefits of DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby True HD with these speakers now I have the Amp to decode them?

Any help most appreciated!!!!

Mark

With that size room, I would definitely get an extra pair of the surround speakers and go 7.1. I used to have the Jamo set up and it's great - ridiculous for the money. As long as you haven't tested traditional speaker set ups, you will be wowed. And yes, they will be able to accept all the HD audio codecs fine. They Sony receiver should be great with the Jamos, I paired mine up with the old Sony STR-DA1200es.
