iTunes 9

Just downloaded it.

All I can say is a big fat MEH.

Hate the new colour scheme, looks like it needs some vitamins.

Plus you can't resize the icons for your albums any more or choose the background colour (greyscale).

RUBBISH.

Well I didn't play around with it much. I figured out about iT-LP, seems I can't create my own, has to be downloaded with an album (boo). But yeah, not much to it really - can't figure out whether household sharing is actually worth anything, since I can copy my entire library somewhere else anyway...

Watching the intro, I got the impression most of the "new stuff" centred around spending money in the iTunes store. May have misinterpreted the video, but for those that use iTunes primarily for holding ripped versions of their cd's, I couldn't see much to get excited about.

I tend to agree.

The only thing I am finding useful (and I think its new) is the column browser. You have to enable it through the View menu, then you can browse by genre, artist, etc. I find this quite useful as my library is getting quite large.

Having done that, I have noticed some really bizarre classifications of some of my music. Consolers of the Lonely by The Raconteurs was classified as Jazz.

Anyone would think you paid money for it!

Updating my iPhone software to 3.1 right about now, so if it turns my phone in to a brick I'll be sure to let you all know...

And another thing... Did you know you need to have the latest version of Safari to view iTunes Store within iTunes? Seems a bit weird. I deliberately unchecked the update box as I use Firefox but then couldn't access iTunes Store as a result.

Taking one for the team - good work...

Hm. I guess that makes sense (though I can't see where in the new store they're using someting that wouldn't render in the old one), but at least if you're using Firefox having S4 on your machine's not going to make any odds.

iPhone still alive and kicking... and it seems we iPhone owners should count ourselves lucky the software update is free. The OS 3.1 software for the iPod Touch is £2.99, which had passed me by in all the 'excitement'.

Let me see, I have spent abuout £12,000 pounds on apple products in the last few years, yeah I payed for it.

I also work for apple at the moment and have high expectations. They could do much better in terms of UI, but the focus is on making money right now.

Last night's keynote was all about iTunes/iPod so that's the focus over the 'holiday period'.

What?! Just plugged my iPod in and it says it's up to date (3.0), but if this is true, it's the biggest outrage since Coco Pops changed their name to Choco Krispies...

Good news folks - just updated iPod Touch to 3.1.1 and no charge incurred (unless Apple have done it on the sly without telling me - the cheeky blighters!).

Everyone breathe a collective sigh of relief...

Interesting... One staffer definitely had to pay for his update - I saw it with my own eyes! Guessing he hadn't done the 3.0 update, which did come with a charge.
