I am thinking about buying Cyrus CD6SE, Cyrus 8 vs 2 and Spendor A5....am mainly into classical, any opinions please.

It is a good system, yes, but I'd also consider the Musical Fidelity X-Series if I were you - even the older v3 versions, which can be had for peanuts now second-hand.

I'm not convinced that CDP will be best suited for classical music, for the money. I think Cyrus stuff tends to be a little bit bright for such things. Musical Fidelity is an excellent suggestion, with the XRay v8 being a very good CDP for classical music due to it's neutrality.

Check this lot out, a very good classical music system indeed. Matched with sensitive speakers the XT100 is a very good amp indeed. There was another set of them earlier with a buy it now but I think they've been sold.

Definately hunt around for a new XT100 and Xray v8 combo if you don't want to buy used. Trust me, for classical (and anything in my opinion), it will thrash the Cyrus stuff. Blacker blacks, more focused soundstage, smoother (valve preamp in the XT100), richer, more natural and magical!

EDIT - found the other one, it didn't sell today after all:clicky
