Hi there,

I have a pair of Q Acoustics 2010i speakers runned through an old Denon PMA 701 that I bough off ebay.

Lately I'm wondering if a new amplifier would be a good improvement over the Denon, which is fairly old. I'm also considering a DAC amplifier to connect my PS3 or my computer.

Now with the pre-christmas sales I'm seeing some interesting offers on the 300-350£ amplifier range. Would it be worthy?

Thanks for any advice. I'm quite a newbie on hi-fi!

hi there,

you could demo the following, these amps work well

Denon PMA520 or 720 (excl. DAC)

NAD 316 or 326 (add separte DAC) or D3020 incl. DAC

Pioneer A30 (excl. DAC)

Marantz PM6004 (excl DAC) or PM 6005 incl. DAC

I dont know the exact pricing, please check the pricing

Thanks for the replies!

I gave it some thought... I'm interested in the PM6005 since it has DAC but also phono stage (also want to play vinyl) .

My question would be if my money would be better spent in a separate DAC, separate phono pre-amp and a cheaper amp. Separates have its appeal for mobility or future change of system but ultimately I want the best sound possible right now. Perhaps just what I need is the Denon dm39 with a phono pre-amp?

Any of this has network connectivity but I assume a bluetooth adapter with digital output would do the trick.
