Is there a Full HD TV which can play SD content without upscaling/expanding it?

I went to look at the new Sony range today and was particularly interested in a feature where the picture can be displayed at it's original size without upscaling. Unfortunately, it turns out that this only works for HD sources. However, what I want is to play HD content at full size but for SD to only use the natural 576 lines. In other words SD will display with a virtual 25" picture on a 47" TV the rest of the outside of the screen being blank. I got the saleseman to display some SD content and the picture quality is truely aweful compared to my current 27" TV.

Does anyone know of a brand which supports this feature?

The solution for me is not, as the salesman suggested, to watch SD content from further away so you can't see how bad the picture is or to only watch HD content.

the salesman is exactly right the only way is keep your crt and wait for more hd content or look from a distance which does help
