Is there a Compact AV Receiver out there ??????

Wanted: A good Hi Fi Sound compact AV receiver which is a max of 10cm in Height OR 40cm in width.

Budget: £1000 appprox

Have auditioned the Arcam Solo Movie 5.1 which is superb but a bit too expensive, can anyone advise me of a good alternative please. Would really appreciate some help.

AV reciever and HiFi don't mesh. Oil and water. IMHO

Buy a compact AV reciever PLUS a compact Hifi amp. Parasound makes some surprisingly good miniature kit.

have you looked at the cyrus range, as they come in a rather nice compact size! I've had the av8 for about 5 years now which i still think sounds great for movies.

Have a look at the NAD Visio Five, which will cost around £900.

Thanks for you imput, I have had a look at the cyrus range definitely compact but census is that cyrus have stopped making the AV8. If that is the case might wait to see what they come out with next.

Thanks for trying 12 cm as you say a smidge to tall. I didnt think it would be as hard as it is proving to be finding a quality alternative.

Thanks raypalmer I totally agree with oil and water but Im trying to get a happy medium with one system does all. Then the wife put the restrictions on height as it has to fit with my other equipment in the tv cabinet.

I tried looking for Parasound and the lowest price av unit was £1800 which is to much. If you have a link to a site that is more reasonable I will have a look.
