Bought a new tv stand, so had to move speakers. So, I re-ran Audyssey to set up my speakers again.

Everything was fine - all went well,

Checked throught the settings all seemed ok,

Manually altered the speaker db levels slightly,

switched back to tv and it didn't sound quite right,

flipped through to stereo mode and the right sounded louder than the left - which I thought odd,

went back into the level calibration and all of a sudden - on the left speaker, the test tone sounded really quiet (at -8.5db) and only the highest frequencies were playing - it had no depth.

I checked the connection on the speakers - fine, checked the connections on the amp end, fine.

However, I noticed that if i pressed lightly downwards (not pushing the connections in further, but actually down!) on the speaker connections on the amp, the sound came back! didn't matter which speaker connections I pushed, all of then seemed to effect the sound. even if i just moved some of the speaker cables slightly - it would effect the sound.

Ther banana plugs are pushed right in - the cables are van damme blue & black - all professionally prepared by Media Factory, and i'm happy there is no problem with them.

I have the speakers bi-amped.

Sorry for the long read, and i hope it's relatively clear what i'm saying?

Well, it sounds like a loose connecction. Try switching the left and right channel cables over at the amp end, and see whether the fault moves to the right channel. If so, the problem could be in the amp - if it stays where it is, then it's probably in the cabling.

cheers Andrew,

I followed your advice - moved the cables and the problem followed! looks as though it's the amp - AGAIN!

BACK TO ONKYO - AGAIN!
