Hi All,

I don't know if any one and that includes the experts PLEASE, can help with this. i have a 42'' philips HD ready Tv ,model 42PLL5522D/05, i am getting a new sky HD box in the new year and a Sony BDP-S550 for Xmas, i have a Pioneer home cinema surround system PD-Z970M which is about 4 years old maybe more. Now here is the problem, i understand that to get full 5.1 Dolby Digital sound from the sky box i will need an optical cable plugged into the Pioneer surround sound, but how will i or can i get 5.1 Dolby Digital sound from the Sony blueray player through the pioneer as it only has 1 optical port. i borrowed a blueray player last night to see what the picture was like on my Tv, i connected the Sony by HDMI cable to my Tv, the picture was exellent, but to get sound out of the Pioneer it was fed out of the Tv to the Pioneer via a scart lead, which only showed up as pro-logic on the Pioneer. it did not sound as good as playing a dvd in the pioneer, are there any type of connection boxes etc.

I would be greatfully for any comment or ideas.

Thanks.

No i'm afraid not, just 1 scart connection.

You really need to replace that to be in line with the rest of your kit. You could get the Sony STRDG820 for around £225 and the Jamo A10 5.1 system for around the same. £450 and the difference would be amazing. You would get HD audio through hdmi from your Sony bluray player and Dolby Digital through the HD box with optical.
