Hi everyone!

I'm really new to Hi Fi, so still learning everything.

i'm just wondering if it's possible to directly output through the USB of the computer to RCA on the amp(Kenwood A62) without an external DAC. If not then, what is the smallest and affordable DAC out there that i can get?

Thanks!

unfortunately you cannot go directly from usb to rca as they are two different signal types.

What is your budget?

One of the cheapest ways is the Behringher UCA202 which is about 20quid.

I've got a 100CAD budget for a DAC. So with that limitation what are your recomendations?

The UCA202 is definitely a good option, i will look into it. thanks!

What sort of computer have you got? Many have reasonable dacs built in and virtually all have a line out socket so you could go from the computers line out to RCA for the cost of a cable - a couple of dollars. If the rest of your kit is budget gear (no offense) you probably wouldn't notice the differece a dac would make. There's a comparison somewhere that found people couldn't reliably distinguish between an onboard sound card and a £1000 benchmark dac.
