Nice little amp ... but how big is the power supply?

Lots of nice Tripath amps around at good prices. I've never heard or read a review of one of these against a traditional discrete amp ... is there much difference? Have you thought of an digital iPod dock to improve the output over and above the internal iPod DAC?

The problem with a digital ipod dock is that I would then have to add a DAC to this setup. Yes, it would sound better, but it would increase size and cost. A goal here was to see what I could do on the cheap. Pretty happy as it is. Thanks for checking it out : )

Actually, the wadia does not have a DAC. The analog outputs are simply passing along the analog signal from the iPod. When you use the analog output on the Wadia you are actually using the iPods own DAC.

You're right ... my mistake. It's just a digital transport and analogue pass-thru (not sure if it buffers the analogue or not). The Pure i-20 dock for around £80 does include a DAC.

I like your minimalist approach ... enjoy!

BTW ... Some digital docks like have internal DACs with analogue RCA outputs. They conveniently provide a support for your iPod, recharge it, and also provide remote control capability. But they cost around £100 or so (Wadias a little more), so that would increase the price of your minimalist budget system accordingly.

Good sound from such a small box, ideal for a small room or the ability to move around the house as required.

I wish I had a view like that from my bedroom window as well
